We here at The Academy of Fun have been working on a very exciting project. We thought we’d share this homeschool idea with you!
What is the project, you wonder? Well, I first must explain that all members of The Academy of Fun enjoy playing trivia.
I have mentioned before that Leo is quite creative. He is always working on several projects at once, and he has more creative ideas than even he can keep up with, and he’s quite the mover and the shaker.
I digress. Over the summer, Leo came up with the idea of making our very own trivia game, based on what we learn while homeschoolin’, or not-at-homeschoolin’. I thought this idea was very creative, very us, and had the potential for fun (since I have quite the name to live up to!). We’ve been keeping a word document filled with “fun facts” and this weekend we decided that we had accrued enough fun facts to print and laminate.
We have plans to design an equally fun game box, and by “we” I mean Leo. Once we have plenty of trivia cards, we would like to create a game board and game pieces.
I am extremely proud of this project. Leo thought of the initial idea, he came up with which facts to include, he helped me with cutting and pasting, and has plans for the box design. Talk about child-led learning and project-based schooling! Plus, this game promises to be enjoyable for the whole family, and everyone will be reviewing previously learned information.
