In case you missed it, here’s the new stuff from My Little Poppies:
Do you know what is sort of funny? My Huffington Post article was featured by Huffington Post on social media and my site was down. And then I wrote another one and, guess what? My site was down. And then I was featured on The Mighty and - you guessed it- my site was down.
Sigh.
So, you didn’t miss much over here at My Little Poppies because there was a lot of maintenance. That said, I did republish a couple of your favorites from the past, including these two:
Asynchronous Development and the Gifted Child
Her Homeschool Manifesto
And, did you know you can find me elsewhere? Here are some recent posts:

Your book shelves must look very similar to ours!
We also love Holes and the Theodore Boone series.
Right now we’re enjoying book 2 of the Itch: Element Hunter series and we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of Pseudonymous Bosch’s new book called Bad Luck. We loved Bad Magic. It was a very clever and loose adaptation of The Tempest. Great reading. We hold high hopes for Bad Luck. This series is best read after The Secret Series, which is lots of fun.
We’re at a tricky point right now. My daughter is 10 and is quickly outgrowing the children’s section, but she’s really too young to jump into some of the content in young adult books.
I love when you share what you are reading! We do have such similar readers in our homes.
Have you read Some of My Best Friends are Books? It helps with some of that content vs. reading level stuff. Also check out Common Sense Media. Not sure if they do books, but they are wonderful for movies and shows.
Yes! I recently finished ‘Some of my Best Friends are Books’. I use the lists in there, MENSA reading lists, online searches for specific topics, plus recommendations from my favourite blogs of course! :o)
Our piano teacher lent us a great book this week: Why Beethoven Threw the Stew. It’s written in a Horrible Histories kind of style, which we love. It gives an interesting recap of the lives and works of several famous composers.
That sounds like something we’d LOVE. Adding it to the top of our list, thank you!
Also: Our piano teacher is ALWAYS lending great books. This week it was Grimm’s Fairy Tales
I’m almost afraid to ask, fearing it might be the same one I have……. but who is your host?
A Small Orange? I was fine for the past couple years but I was down multiple times in March and then on and off since the 30th. I switched and then went down AGAIN. You just have to laugh!!
