My sweet T is learning to read.
“Mum!! Do you know what?! I have happy tears in my eyes right now. Wanna know why?? Because when I look at the book, I can read a bunch of the words now. I have happy reading tears.” ~ T
Me too, T.
Is there anything more exciting to watch than a new reader unlocking the code?? Learning to read is a beautiful, happy tear worthy event!

One rainy Sunday when I was in the third grade, I picked up a book to look at the pictures and discovered that even though I did not want to, I was reading. I have been a reader ever since.

Awwwwww! I love this!
🙂
I would love any tips you have on facilitating the journey to becoming a reader. Right now my gifted son is working on phonics and really wants to learn how to really read and FAST 😉 Thoughts?
Hi, Jen!
After going through this three times now, my best recommendations would be to read fantastic books early and often, use audiobooks, have wonderful conversations, and enjoy board games together. It all falls into places super-fast with these kids when they are ready and then it is 0-60. Enjoy the ride!
