Welcome back to the 10-Day “Coffee and Books” Read-Aloud Challenge. Today is Day 2 and our prompt is SILLY.
Let’s have some fun today, shall we?
Day 2: Silly

Reading aloud is important for our children’s cognitive development and academic achievement, but reading aloud also flexes empathy muscles…
Carefully-selected read alouds are the spine of our homeschool routine. As homeschool parents, we are fully aware of the academic benefits of reading aloud. But there are many other, arguably more important, benefits!
Reading aloud offers countless opportunities for learning, especially when it comes to identifying and understanding emotions in others. When you read aloud, take it slow. Let the read-aloud be a conversation. Pause to make predictions, to ponder a character’s emotional response, to discuss conflicts and their resolutions. Share a time when you felt similarly. Offer an alternative ending. There are endless ways to turn a book into a social-emotional learning experience!
… and reading aloud also boosts connection, and makes memories!
Homeschooling is a long game. The days are long but the years are short. Before you know it, your kiddos will be grown! What do you want them to remember about this time?
Your daily read-aloud helps you to connect with your children and to make memories to last a lifetime!
And that’s why I chose the silly prompt for today. I want you to giggle together!
