Our first official week of homeschool is in the books. All-in-all, it was a pretty good week. We had some of the typical back-to-routine bumps in the road. There were some power struggles, and some tears, but most days went better than I expected for the first week.

Monday

Today is our official first day of homeschool. We had a great summer and we are coming next off of two weeks of being out of town. So, I’m expecting tired kids and tired kids need to ease into routines slowly. This is our third year of homeschooling and I know we will get there eventually. . One of my goals for the year is to end our Coffee and Books by transitioning to math play. Usborne’s This is Not a Math Book is a perfect start to this new tradition. . Reporting to you live from my kids’ potty stool, where I am overseeing a long-overdue tub. The kids are wild, and filthy, and exhausted… they aren’t listening to me but I have a sneaking suspicion they will listen to THIS. Happy 100th Birthday plus one day, Roald Dahl!

This year, in our homeschool, Thursdays include art exploration. I thought this book would be a perfect introduction to our new routine. (Plus Dahl just because?)
