How to Make an Ornament Tree ~ My Little Poppies

Hi.

This is Leo. Today I’m going to tell you about how to make an ornament tree! This is a craft I did last year with my Papa.

Ornament Tree by Papa

I made this craft with my Papa last year. It is a wooden Christmas Tree. You can hang ornaments on it and put it on your dinner table. It is fun to look at the ornaments when you’re eating dinner. It is a family tradition because Papa made this same type of tree for my Dad and my aunt when they were my age. My cousins have the old tree on their kitchen table and we have this one on ours. So it’s a family tradition!

This is how we made it. Papa cut wood squares at home in his workshop. That’s the base. Then he cut one big, long, wooden post for the trunk of the tree. Then he drilled three holes through the trunk. Then he put three long, thin dowels through the three holes.

This is not a very good before picture but it’s the only one my mom could find for me.

Then, the best part was when Papa let me paint the tree. It was so fun!

This is what the ornament tree looked like LAST year. This year we haven't decorated it all the way yet because our house is having construction.

We wrote “Made with Papa Dec. 2013” on the bottom so we would always remember when we made it.

One of our favorite parts is decorating it with ornaments that we make. I’ve made A LOT of ornaments in my life. We haven’t put that many on the ornament tree yet because our house is under construction but we did get to paint on the walls in our kitchen.
