Tomorrow is My Little Poppies’ 6-month anniversary, or as we like to say in our family, it’s My Little Poppies’ Happy Half.
We love half birthdays here at My Little Poppies. When it is your Happy Half in our house, you get to eat off of a You Are Special Today plate for every meal and you get to drink from Schizz’s ancient soccer ball mug. The birthday boy or gal gets to choose dinner and help to make the dessert. We’ll often bake a cake (sometimes even half a cake- very fun!) and then decorate the holy hell out of it. To end the night, we sing Happy Half Birthday, there is a candle to make a wish upon, and sometimes - if you’re lucky- the Happy Half kid receives artwork from siblings. The most exciting part, however, is to be able to then say, “I am ____ and a half” because these small details are highly important when you have only been on this planet for a few short years. It’s the little things in life that are often the sweetest.
I’ve been homeschooling and blogging a mere six months, but I will celebrate tomorrow. What the heck, I might even use Schizz’s soccer ball mug and the silly plate, and I’ll be toasting you guys with that soccer ball mug. Thank you so much for supporting us, for reading, and for sharing tips and resources. This unexpected path has been a blessing. I am grateful for fresh starts, new connections, continued support, and I am excited for our future. Tonight, on the eve of our Happy Half, I’m introducing our new website. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
So, tell me, what are some of your family’s favorite traditions? Share them here!
