DIY Tooth Fairy Pouch

Today, I’m going to share with you how to make a DIY Tooth Fairy Pouch.

Here’s the back story, folks. When I was a little girl, I was afraid of the Tooth Fairy**. The thought of a fairy flying around my bedroom and ultimately reaching under my sleeping head to take my old tooth was positively frightening to me. I used to plunk my tooth on the kitchen table before I went to bed, hoping for some shut-eye. Perhaps the Tooth Fairy is at the root (har har!) of my lifelong insomnia!

Creepy.

Now, as an adult, the thought of sneaking into Leo’s bedroom at night to reach under his sleeping head in search of his old tooth is positively frightening to me. I mean, c’mon folks- you’ve all seen his room. Finding a tooth in there would be akin to finding a needle in a haystack!

Do you want to know what I did? I gathered some felt scraps, scissors, twine, and my trusty ol’ glue gun and I made a Tooth Fairy Pouch to hang on the outside of his door.

This project took a few minutes and saved me a lot of stress!

If you are experiencing Tooth Fairy related stress, or if you have a kiddo who doesn’t want a fairy darting around his or her room in the wee hours of the morning, this might help you out!

** Folks, I wasn’t just afraid of the Tooth Fairy. At the risk of sounding pathological, I will share that I was afraid of all of the childhood myths and characters. At Santa’s Village, back in the 80s, I once witnessed Santa swear at his reindeer. Another day, at Storyland, I caught Cinderella smoking a butt beside her castle. And don’t even get me started on those ultra-creepy mall Easter Bunnies!

I’d love to hear from you. Tell me, were you afraid of any of those mythological childhood characters? Are your kiddos afraid of them now? Share a story or memory here!
