The Not Perfect Hat Club by Jena Ball
Book review by Leo, age 8.5
Hi this is Leo and I am writing a book review on The Not Perfect Hat Club by Jena Ball. It is an awesome book about a therapy dog. Sir Isaac Newton is a golden retriever. There are also two kids that are main characters. Their names are Kylee and Jason and in this book they learn the meaning of perfect.
In this book, kids will learn that nobody is perfect. It is okay if you are not good at something. The important thing to remember is to have fun and to be kind and to understand others.
I liked this book because I like animals and I like to read books with animals as main characters. It had an important message.
The Not Perfect Hat Club would be a good book for kids who are interested in:
- Animals
- Trying not to be perfect
- Learning more about bullying
The Not Perfect Hat Club might be a good book for:
- Teachers who want to show kids that not everyone is perfect
- Parents with kids who are perfectionists or who deal with bullying.
If you like animal books, here are some of my favorites:

I enjoyed The Not Perfect Hat Club…
I would give this book 4 stars. Thanks for reading! From, Leo
Wonderful book review. I am sure you learned about kindness and being perfect.
Dear Leo,
I am very happy to hear you read and liked “The Not Perfect Hat Club.” Did you have a favorite character? Have you ever made a big mistake like Newton? I hope we get to meet and talk someday about writing. You are good.,
