I am going to review a book called The Capture by Kathryn Lasky from the Guardians of Ga’Hoole Series. This book is terrific. I will read the back of the book for you:
“Soren is born in the Forest of Tyto, a tranquil kingdom where the Barn Owls dwell. But evil lurks in the owl world, evil that threatens to shatter Tyto’s peace and change the course of Soren’s life forever. Soren is captured and taken to a dark and forbidding canyon. It’s called an orphanage, but Soren believes it’s something far worse. He and his friend Gylfie know that the only way out is up. To escape, they will need to do something they have never done before- fly. And so begins a magical journey. Along the way, Soren and Gylfie meet Twilight and Digger. The four owls band together to seek the truth and protect the owl world from unimaginable danger.”
If you like suspense, owls, and adventure you will definitely love The Capture by Kathryn Lasky! I loved it so much I read it in two days and I can’t wait to read the next one!
Thanks for reading!
Leo

Great review Leo! We loved the “Owls Of Ga’hoole” book series. Who knew it would launch us into a year long unit study, (and the collecting of all things owl related…owl mugs, teapot, figurines, squishmallows…)
This book series also inspired us to go to our local bird sanctuary, where we learned so much about the different owl species.
My son even started saving part of his allowance to give to the local foundation for endangered burrowing owls…aka “Digger.” We watched every owl documentary we could find, did owl artwork, watched “The Guardians of Ga’hoole” movie, bought the soundtrack and my son learned how to play the theme music on his soprano trombone in music lessons. So much learning, all because of a book. Made me realize that you never know the full journey a story will take you on.
