I’ve mentioned before that my kids love dabbling in Shakespeare.
Yes, Shakespeare.
It all started with an Usborne box set and then grew from there.
Watching my children delight in Shakespeare has made me question why our public schools typically wait until high school to introduce his works. Children love to learn, play, and imagine. They are little sponges, soaking up everything around them. Why do we wait to introduce Shakespeare to a bunch of unwilling adolescents?
What would happen if we introduced Shakespeare to all children at a young age?
We’ve written about our favorite Shakespeare resources before- and there have been many! So, when I heard about a new pop-up Shakespeare book from Candlewick Press, I had to check it out.
Pop-Up Shakespeare is A Fun and Memorable Introduction to Shakespeare
*Disclosure: I received a review copy of ‘Pop-Up Shakespeare’ from Candlewick Press in exchange for a review. I was not required to write a positive review and, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only choose to share resources that I would use with my own family and those that I believe other families will enjoy. My kids love Shakespeare, so I had to try this one out!
‘Pop-Up Shakespeare’ is a fun way to introduce Shakespeare to children
Pop-Up Shakespeare is a collaboration between the internationally-known comedy troupe the Reduced Shakespeare Company and best-selling illustrator, Jennie Maizels.
In this book, children will learn about William Shakespeare’s sonnets, plays, and poems in an engaging pop-up book format.
Pop-Up Shakespeare is filled with fun pop-ups, fold-outs, fun facts, and lots of humor. Your children will be thoroughly entertained and will keep coming back for more.
My children loved this one, as you can see from the thumbs-up above. It’s certainly a fun, hands-on read. I particularly liked how the information is found on all sides of the pop-ups. It’s almost like a Shaksepearian treasure hunt!
