To say that my boys were over-the-moon excited for this game to arrive would be a gargantuan understatement.
My boys are major Potterheads. It’s Harry Potter 24/7 around here and while this game isn’t technically a Harry Potter game, my Potterheads LOVE it. Today, I’m chatting about a strategic economic game from ThinkFun. It’s called Mystic Market and it got all the thumbs up around here.
Mystic Market: A Strategic Economic Game for Potterheads
*Disclosure: I received Mystic Market at no cost. I was not required to write a positive review and, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only share resources that I would use with my own family and those that I believe other families will enjoy.
Basic overview of Mystic Market
Mystic Market is a strategic economic game for 2-4 players ages 10 and up. If you have Harry Potter lovers at home, I can pretty much guarantee that they will love this game!
How do I know? Just look at this Potterhead’s face:
Components
Mystic Market includes the following components:
- Instruction Booklet
- Value Track
- 6 Ingredient Vials
- 66 Ingredient Cards
- 75 Coins
These potion vials are gorgeous!
Mystic Market: Object of the game
This is a face-paced card game where players but and sell magical potion-making ingredients, but the Value Track means that the value of the ingredients is constantly changing so players must use strategic thinking!
Throughout the game, players have the opportunity to craft potions that will impact their opponents! The player with the most coins at the end of the game is the winner.
Mystic Market is like a Harry Potter potion stock market, you guys!
How to play Mystic Market
- Buy, swap, and sell potion ingredients to make money.
- Create potions that will impact other players.
- The player with the most money at the end of the game is the winner!
