Re-Reading, Again and Again: A Harry Potter Summer
We are having an honest to goodness Harry Potter summer over here, folks. Do you have a child who reads and rereads the same books, again and again? Did you do the same thing as a child? Are you a wee bit jealous??

Are you an introvert? Are you raising introverts? Do you want their experience to be different from yours? Here are a couple good books for you, folks!
Homeschooling Outliers: A Glimpse into Our Homeschool Life
I love those day-in-the-life homeschool series posts. Here is a glimpse into our lives. There’s never a dull moment when you’re homeschooling a kid like Leo!
History Unboxed: Hands-On History Fun Delivered Monthly to Your Door!
I love monthly kits because they make homeschooling so easy. Up until very recently, I had no idea that there was a monthly kit available for history. Leo is Greek obsessed this summer and so it was quite fitting that we were able to test out the Athens Unboxed kit … what fun we had!
What have the little poppies been up to in real life??
If you hang out with us on Instagram, you already know what we’ve been up to!

What are the poppies reading this week??
Because I participated in a Blog Hop this weekend, and because Schizz is working and the kids are crabby, I am going to merge The Books that Fill Our Shelves in with this weekend’s Poppies’ Picks.
Schizz is reading:
Cait is reading:
Leo (7-years-old) recently finished:
Leo is still reading Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, but he spiced it up a bit while we were on vacation and included these titles, among others:
T (5 1/2-years-old) is reading:
Our little Miss has been enjoying a geography theme- just in time for a homeschool project I have up my sleeve!
Seuss (almost 4-years-old) is reading:
Seuss is big into all things superhero, and also fun facts. He falls asleep with one or both of these books on his bed each night!
Recommended by My Little Poppies this week:
If you have a child who loves Greek Mythology, you need to read D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths. It is absolutely fantastic!
Elements ~ Theodore Gray
We love both the Elements book and the Elements cards. My little poppies have been on a chemistry kick lately and so we have dusted them off and had quite a bit of fun!
Electronimoes
In keeping with the chemistry theme, my children have loved playing Electronimoes, a dominoes-like chemistry game for children of all ages. Check out their Kickstarter campaign to learn more and stay tuned for a review I’ll be doing with Gifted Homeschoolers Forum!

Welcome to the Sandbar No Shoes Nation Fan of the Month
Folks, I told you I was obsessed with Kenny Chesney. This just happened. Happy to be included by the fine (and equally obsessed) folks over at Welcome to the Sandbar. If you are a fellow member of No Shoes Nation, you should definitely follow Welcome to the Sandbar! Tell them their August NSN member sent you!
Raising Poppies: Supporting Parents of Gifted and Twice-Exceptional Children
If you or are the parent of a gifted or 2E child, you should head on over and check out this group. Just be forewarned: it’s tough to leave once you step inside because it kinda feels like home.
Granite State Gifted
If you know of gifted and 2E children in NH or MA, please send them my way! Granite State Gifted is a growing community of parents just like you! And, if you’re having trouble finding your community, don’t forget that you can take matters into your own hands!
Leo read King Solomon Mines? I remember reading that when I was over 10 and finding it rather scary and at times incomprehensible. But I think my daughter will dig Egyptian book!
