I cannot wait to gush about the literature-rich geography curriculum we’ve been using!
Our homeschool routine includes carefully selected, high-quality read alouds and educational games. There are oodles of fantastic books out there!
I believe that you could homeschool the elementary years with your library card alone.
Truly.
And yet, this is easier said than done. As homeschool parents, we all have the best of intentions. But then life happens and we end up scrambling to throw something together at 7:30 in the morning as the kids are coming down the staircase.
Ask me how I know this.
I’ll be honest: I love when someone does all that work for me. I love an incredible book list or a literature-rich curriculum.
And that’s where Beautiful Feet Books comes into play.
Beautiful Feet Books: A Literature-Rich Geography Curriculum for Book Lovers
*Disclosure: I received this curriculum at no cost and was compensated for my time to write this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only share products and resources that I would use with my own family and those that I believe other families will enjoy.Â
Beautiful Feet Books offers literature-rich curriculum for homeschool families
The truth is, I’ve been drooling over Beautiful Feet Books for a couple years now. I have also wanted to use a literature-rich geography curriculum.
When I was given the opportunity to review Beautiful Feet Books’ Geography Through Literature Study, I jumped at the chance.Â
(I mean this literally. That’s how much of a book nerd I am.)

I mean, c’mon now. These are the books! Are you drooling, too?
For the uninitiated, Beautiful Feet Books is an award-winning company that offers homeschool families literature-rich curriculum that is both inspiring and easy to use.
If you are a fan of books and timelines, you’ll love Beautiful Feet Books. Beautiful Feet Books’ Historical Timelines are well-known in homeschool circles. With the timelines, children cut out and color illustrated depictions of historic events and figures and then glue these onto their very own timeline.
Beautiful Feet Books currently has timelines for:
- Ancient History
- History of Science
- Early American History
- Medieval History
- History of Music
- History of California.
(We ended up purchasing History of Science after our phenomenal experience with this review!)
Geography Through Literature Study: A literature-based geography curriculum for elementary students
Our family was over-the-moon excited to check out Beautiful Feet Books’ Geography Through Literature Study.
This award-winning curriculum pack is recommended for grades 3-7 and includes the following:
- Geography Through Literature Study GuideÂ
- Geography Map SetÂ
- Minn of the Mississippi by Holling C. Holling
- Paddle to the Sea by Holling C. Holling
- Tree in the Trail by Holling C. Holling
- Seabird by Holling C. Holling
I knew this curriculum would be a win for our family before it even arrived on our doorstep.
Our family adores Holling Clancy Holling, winner of the Newbery Honor, the Caldecott Honor, and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award. Holling’s amazing stories which are filled with fantastic illustrations and geographical and scientific facts.
Holling’s books are perfect for homeschool families who love rabbit holes. There is so much to explore in each story!
So, what did we think of our new literature-based geography curriculum?
As anticipated, Beautiful Feet Books’ Geography Through Literature Study did not disappoint.
I found the curriculum guide to be easy to use. We were so excited that we opened it upon arrival and got to work.
This curriculum includes 39 lessons. The lessons use a Charlotte Mason approach and therefore includes:
- reading
- reasoning
- relating
- recording
As I said, the guide is easy to use but it is also flexible.Â
You can use this with multiple students, as we did, or just with one student. And, you can use this curriculum for one semester or for an entire school year.
This is a stand-alone geography curriculum, but you could also use it as a stepping stone.
Holling’s books offer countless avenues to explore. Each lesson includes thoughtful questions that cover a variety of subjects.Â
If you want to, you could easily add science, history, and vocabulary to this geography curriculum.

The maps are gorgeous!
I love that each of the books comes with a 24″ by 18″ cardstock map. As you read the books, students will use these maps to color countries, states, cities, oceans, lakes, rivers, and national landmarks.
You can make this literature-rich geography curriculum work for your unique family. Because my kids are super-interested in geography right now, we used our Pin It Maps in addition to the maps included in the curriculum.

Does this curriculum cover the whole United States or just a few states?
Hi, Ariane.
It doesn’t cover the entire USA, but you could certainly add to the learning or use one of the other resources from the company. We paired this with Pin It Maps and the kids had a blast!
You had me at hello! Well actually at HC Holling;) he was a favorite of mine growing up, specifically Paddle to the Sea. I remember reading it with my dad when I was pretty young. I ordered my set yesterday and I’m pretty psyched to try it out with my two. Thanks for the review and recommendation!
Oh my goodness!! I have had this program in my shopping cart there for weeks. I have been on the fence. But now, I am really thinking about doing this over the summer. It looks awesome. AND so does the character study. I just don’t know where to start with my age spread of boys. I am so glad you reviewed this.
What resources did you use for the research questions in each lesson? The library and any book that answered the question?
Yes!
