There was another day last fall when we read Thunder Birds: Nature’s Flying Predators and then we enjoyed a week of bird watching. And…
We saw an owl! For real! In the daytime!

Cait, thank you so much for this post and for introducing us to a new author! I had never heard of Jim. I have a feeling he will be a new favorite. Before even finishing reading your post, I reserved multiple titles through the library. Thanks for always being a fantastic purveyor of resources for us. I appreciate all the hard work it takes on your end. I’ve also been enjoying more of your podcasts recently as we are also “puppy schooling” and walk the dog multiple times a day. .. Which is a great time to listen to a podcast. Thanks for the great content.
Aw! Good luck with the new pup! And let me know what you think about these books. He’s one of our favorites and I’ve been meaning to write about him for a long time.
A perfect book for bird-watchers. I’m sure students will love comparing their arm-length to the wingspan of the osprey. The illustrations are incredible and the text is very personal, related to Mr. Arnosky’s experience.
His books are amazing!
