Win a One-Year Subscription from Groovy Lab in a Box!

It’s a STEAM-filled month over at the {virtual} Family Book Club at My Little Poppies, folks. To celebrate all things STEAM, I will be sharing some of our family’s favorite STEM activities. And one of our most favorite is Groovy Lab in a Box. With all the monthly box subscriptions available these days it can be tough to choose, but I’m so happy that we decided to get groovy last fall. These boxes are incredible and my little STEMists adore them! Keep reading to learn how you can enter to win your own!

Wait, back up a second. What is STEM? What is a STEMist?

STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEM careers are among the fastest growing careers out there, folks!

STEMist n. Expert in applying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Explorer, creator, inventor!

What is Groovy Lab in a Box?

In case you have not heard of Groovy Lab in a Box, it’s a monthly subscription service that teaches STEMists (your children!) all about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Each month, they send out a themed box filled with investigations that are fun and hands-on. The investigations culminate into an Engineering Design Challenge, where your STEMists must apply what they’ve learned from the investigations (and use their critical thinking skills) to complete the challenge.

Here is Leo, rocking out with a Groovy Guitar from the Good Vibrations Groovy Lab in a Box!

What is included in Groovy Lab in a Box?

The boxes contain everything you need to complete all of the activities, including a groovy retro-themed lab notebook. When I say everything, I’m not joking, folks! One of the activities for the weather station box called for a dime and several strands of human hair. I kid you not, they were included. The box activities are supplemented with their Beyond…in a Box web portal where your children will find videos, interactives and additional activities. Head over to Groovy Lab in a Box’s website to learn more about this groovy service!

Can you give me a groovy example?

Okay, folks, are you ready? Let me give you a sneak peek into the Groovy Lab in a Box for May. Do you have a STEMist who is fascinated by aviation? Well, I can guarantee your little STEMist will adore May’s “Fly With Me” groovy box, which is filled with activities to explore aeronautical forces, Bernoulli’s Principle and Newton’s Law of Inertia Action – Reaction and much, much, more.

May’s groovy Engineering Design Challenge: You are a starry-eyed aerospace engineer and a groovy world traveler. You dream of taking off in the blue, gliding where the air is stratified and floating down to Peru. Using only the materials from your Groovy Lab in a Box, can you design, build, and launch an airplane generating thrust with a propeller which travels fifteen feet? STEMists, get ready to pack up and fly away!

Fellow STEMists who want to become groovy aerospace engineers can be on their way to doing research and investigations through the engineering design process found in the aviation-themed Groovy Lab in a Box. When kids “engineer” their very own original designs, they are doing the “E” in STEM! Next Generation Science Standards blended with project-based learning. Hands-on Investigations & Engineering Design Challenge in every groovy box!

And now, the GROOVY giveaway:

I don’t know about you guys, but I love a groovy giveaway!

The folks at Groovy Lab in a Box are hosting a sweepstakes where you can WIN A ONE-YEAR SUBSCRIPTION… VALUED AT MORE THAN $287! All you have to do is type in your email address, and you are entered.

Click here to enter to win a one-year subscription from Groovy Lab in a Box!

Good luck, folks! I hope you win!
