I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
I promised myself that I would not start homeschool planning until August. I wanted a break. I wanted to enjoy summer. And, besides, I have enough educational materials here to wing-it in September if need be.
The reality is, sometimes we plan too much. And we all know that, despite all that planning, we always end up changing things a few weeks in.
Homeschooling is funny like that.
But sometimes exciting opportunities come up when you least expect them. I love to fuel creativity and learning through art and I’ve been on the hunt for a certain type of course. Well, I think I’ve found it, folks!
Fuel Creativity and Learning Through Art: Mixing with the Masters, Volume One
*Disclosure: I received access to this course at no cost in exchange for a post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only share resources that I would use with my own family and that I believe other families will enjoy and I have been on the hunt for a course such as this one.
First, before we get started, I have to tell you about the Masterpiece Society Studio!
I’m not at all surprised, but my kiddos are *loving* this membership site.
My oldest was sick as a dog on Valentine’s Day. Everyone was grouchy (self-included) and feeling a little crummy that our day didn’t go as planned.
Thankfully, we had access to amazing art lessons and they saved the day.
Now, back to Mixing with the Masters!
Fuel Creativity and Learning Through Art: Mixing with the Masters
I recently learned about Mixing with the Masters, Volume One and it exactly what I have been looking for. You see, our family loved learning about famous composers and I have been searching for a course that would teach famous artists in a hands-on way.
I just know my kids will enjoy this! Art appreciation: Check!
In fact, I plan on participating in the course with my children. We have had such a wonderful experience doodling together this year that I want to kick things up a notch!
Fuel Learning and Creativity with Mixing with the Masters
Mixing with the Masters is a 6-week e-course designed for students ages 8 and up. Classes will be taught via videos in a private, password-protected site. That means we can watch them when it is convenient for our family.
In Mixing with the Masters, Volume One, students will study six artists from various eras and movements. Children will learn about their lives, art styles, techniques, mediums, and genres. The course includes 18 different art lessons, 3 from each artist, plus 6 art challenges.
The best part?
Students will get to recreate some of the most famous pieces with a mixed media twist. This hands-on learning will make the art come alive.
My little artists are going to love this!
The course will utilize a variety of different mediums including:
- Sketching & charcoal drawing
- Acrylic painting techniques, such as:
- Alla Prima
- Watercolor painting
- Pastel painting
- Wax resist
- Collage art
- And MORE!
Volume One will cover the following artists:
Leonardo da Vinci – High Renaissance (available August 1, 2016)
Rembrandt van Rijn – Baroque (available August 8, 2016)
Claude Monet – Impressionism (available August 15, 2016)
