Foreign Language in Your Homeschool, with Anne Guarnera [Episode 62]
Sisters – so many of you have asked for this one, and Cait + Kara are thrilled to finally be able to share it with you.
In this episode, Anne Guarnera of Language Learning at Home is addressing all your foreign language learning questions – from whether we need to start when our kids are tiny, to whether computer-based programs are a viable option.
Anne is a whiz – not only does she have a PhD in Spanish, she’s also homeschooling her boys bilingually.
You’re going to love hearing what she has to say. And the sisters want Anne to come back, so make sure you add YOUR questions in the comments so that they can ask Anne in a future episode!

Thank you , thank you for this episode! I’ve been researching foreign language education for a few years, and am never happy with what I find. We are looking for German, specifically, (we are moving to Germany in about 7 months), so I was a bit sad she didnt’ have more to say about it, but I am happy to have found some many resources. Thank you!
Love this, Amy! How exciting that you’ll be IN the country, learning the language. Happy adventuring to you!
Thank you so much for interviewing Anne Guarnera! Just today, my 10 year old son said, “Mama, I want to learn Spanish!” I had no clue where to start looking for resources to teach him Spanish or rather help him learn it because I don’t know the language. Now I do!
Thanks for making my job easier!
This is wonderful! So glad this episode came to you at the right time!
I would love to hear advice from Anne about language learning for the dyslexic student. I hesitate to even add any foreign language when my student is struggling to learn to read and write in our native language.
I would like to hear what ideas she has about teaching the same foreign language (Spanish in our home) to a wide variety of ages – preschool to high school. And then advice for if/when one kid says they want to learn a different language? I am sure that will happen at some point.
Great questions, Beth!
