Today, I’m going to tell you about The Doll Kind. Have you heard of it? We have fallen in love and the timing is perfect. But I’m getting ahead of myself here, so let me back up a bit…
Do you ever feel as if the whole world needs a hug? I sure do. Some days, the news is harder to take than others. Sometimes, the world feels off-kilter. On these occasions, one can feel helpless; changing the world feels impossible.
During these times, I’ve learned that the best thing I can do is to make an impact here, on my little patch of this green earth. Yes, it might be a small dent but acts of kindness can have lasting ripples.
I think it is important for children to learn this early on, and well before the world feels harsh to them. This is especially true for our sensitive souls who feel deeply.
The Doll Kind: Encourage Kindness Through Play
*Disclosure: I received The Doll Kind’s “Fair Doll” from Fat Brain Toys at no cost in exchange for a review. I was not required to write a positive review and, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I only share products that I would use with my own family and those that I believe others will enjoy.
It is often said that play is the language of childhood. Through play, children learn about the world around them. Play provides children with a safe place to practice skills and to learn to problem-solve. Today, I’m sharing The Doll Kind, a doll that encourages kindness through play.
What is The Doll Kind?
The Doll Kind (TDK) is an award-winning doll company specializing in beautiful, whimsical dolls with a very special message: to be kind, always. Founded by two moms and winner of the Dr. Toys 100 Best award, The Doll Kind is more than a toy, it’s an important life lesson.
I love the story behind TDK. You can read it here, and believe me- it’s a story that every mom can relate to! I encourage you to take a moment and read it.
The mission of TDK is to harness the power of play in a way that inspires children to do good and feel empowered. Children often feel powerless, but by showing them how to make an impact in their little world, we boost their confidence and grow their self-esteem. Plus, we are teaching them – early on – how to be kind to others and to give back to the community.
The Doll Kind believes that the best way to raise children who are kind is through example. For every doll sold, TDK gives a doll to a child in need.
The Doll Kind currently offers three award-winning dolls:
- The Fair Doll (featured in this post)
- The Hope Doll
- The Grace Doll
How it works…
Once you select your favorite doll, it arrives at your home in beautiful packaging. Please remember that, with your purchase, a doll will also be sent to a child in need.
Your doll will come with a Kindness Kit:
Inside the Kindness Kit, you will find ten wooden kindness tokens. The tokens represent kindness, gratitude, and love. Included in the Kindness Kit is an explanation of the tokens and suggestions for random acts of kindness.
The tokens help your child to spread love, and one token fits in the back of the doll’s clothing for easy access. When your child completes a random act of kindness, they share the token. The token system helps young children to understand the concept of paying it forward.
Finally, dolls come with a naming certificate so that your child can make the doll his or her own.
What did the kids think?
I think her face says it all right here:
My daughter is the kindest little soul and she adores her dolls. When The Fair Doll arrived on our doorstep, it was love at first sight.
All three of my kiddos have enjoyed the token system. They love to come up with ideas to spread love with The Doll Kind. We have enjoyed working together to spread joy and love in our own backyard.
What did mom think?
As a mom, I love anything that encourages kindness. Paying it forward is a concept I’ve been working on with my children since the very beginning.
As an educator, I love the company’s approach to inspiring kindness. Using the language of play is a fantastic way to tap into young children’s already-caring nature. To empower them to take action in their little world is a wonderful thing.
The Doll Kind has been a wonderful addition to our holiday routine. This is a holiday I won’t soon forget thanks in part to the impact The Doll Kind has had on our little tribe.
