I have been asked so many times, by so many folks, to compile a list of my top favorite children’s books. I have yet to do that because I would have a devil of a time trying to narrow it down. There are so many amazing children’s books out there from which to choose.
However…
I know, without a doubt, that Owl Moon by Jane Yolen would make the cut.
Cozy Winter Read Aloud: Owl Moon by Jane Yolen
This Caldecott-winning book was one of our first {Virtual} Family Book Club selections, and with good reason! Owl Moon is beautifully written. It’s a book that you want to read slowly so that you can savor every last drop. Paired with gorgeous illustrations, the book chronicles the adventure of a father and his child as they explore a wintry night in hopes of finding an owl.
The book is as magical as it is beautiful. It is a perfect selection to read before heading out on a snowy hike. Here is a video of my son reading it last winter:
Do your children love owls?
My children adore owls. They are fascinated by them! My daughter’s room is decorated with owls and her favorite Christmas gift this year was an owl Beanie Boo. My oldest son loves to paint owls and won an award last year at a local art show for this piece called Owl at Home (named after another fantastic owl-related read!):
If so, be sure to check out these owl related posts from My Little Poppies:
