Oh my gosh, you guys! The amazing members of our Family Book Club @ My Little Poppies thought of an awesome idea for next month! I am excited to announce that May will be a STEAM-filled month! Do you have a little builder at home? A budding artist? An inventor? Does your child raid your recycling bin on a regular basis? Then this month is for you! We are going to cover STEM/STEAM books over the course of the month and have an absolute blast. The books for this month celebrate creativity, individuality, perseverance, courage, and staying true to yourself.
The {Virtual} Family Book Club at My Little Poppies Book List for May 2015:
Week of May 3rd:
Thanks to Mia for this suggestion! We will be reading The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires. I just ordered the book for our family library and I’m so excited to receive it:
Week of May 10th:
Thank you to Shanna for the following three recommendations! During the week of May 10th, we will be reading Violet the Pilot by Steve Breen. This is another book that I’ve never read and I cannot wait to check it out!
Week of May 17th:
Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty is one of my family’s favorite books. In fact, each year I choose some of our most favorite books to give out as birthday gifts and every little girl in our life got this one this year!
Week of May 24th:
We will be finishing out the month of May with Iggy Peck, Architect, also by Andrea Beaty. My kids adore this book, and I’m certain yours will, too!
More Information on Our Book Club:
I just have to tell you guys that The {virtual} Family Book Club at My Little Poppies is an awesome group of readers. It has been wonderful to connect with folks as book-obsessed as we are over here. If you would like to join in the fun, please join the Family Book Club @ My Little Poppies Facebook group. We cover one book every week and you can participate as much as you’d like. There’s no pressure! We share crafts, lessons, and other activities related to each book and by the week’s end we have an entire Pinterest board related to the text. That way, if you miss anything or if you have a crazy week (it happens to all of us), you can go back at your leisure and explore the book on your own time. You won’t be disappointed, folks! It’s not too late to join us for this week’s book, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg:
