Day In the Life, My Little Poppies Style
7:00
Three little noggins peek into my bedroom. They announce that they did another great job sleeping through the night. Our nights of interrupted sleep are clearly still as fresh on their minds as they are on mine (stay tuned for a post on how we got them sleeping again). I get out of my warm bed and head to the kitchen to make some coffee. Then, I start on the pancakes and eggs. It’s so nice to be somewhere that has a functioning kitchen for a change. I ask the kids if they want to help me flip pancakes but this morning they are too focused on their art. Tomorrow is their uncle’s birthday and they want to make him something special.
9:00
It’s time for some Family Book Club fun. Leo reads Owl Moon aloud to T, Seuss, and I and then together we read about nocturnal and diurnal animals. We watch a couple YouTube videos and then brainstorm an art project. T wants to make an owl and Leo wants to make an owl’s habitat. Thankfully, I have still have a huge bag in the trunk of my car filled with the craft supplies that our Destination Imaginiation team had been using weekly. I run out to the car to get it and then let the kids have their very own craft-palooza. It lasts for quite a while and they have a blast.
10:30
After a water break, we decide to quickly clean up the aftermath and head outside for some fresh air, nature, and snow play. Today is one of those warm New England days- a spring teaser after a very long winter. There are puddles and the sweet sounds melting. My parents’ condo is on a little golf course and the hills are fantastic for sledding, but the snowbanks are even better!

So excited!

I loved your description of your homeschool day, Cait! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for reading, Jo!
I’m always amazed how Mamas with multiples homeschool! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Thanks for reading 🙂
First, I am intimidated, and I only have one. Waking up at 5 am scares me. Still, thanks for all of the examples and pictures. Something about seeing the timing outlined helped me really get a sense of your day together.
Thanks for reading, Bob! I find that kids make most parents into early risers although you never know!
I love the creativity and freedom of expression! I think our kids would get along smashingly especially in terms of pretend play!
I agree, Tabitha! They’d have a blast 🙂
Wow! You get up early. lol Man, my son keeps getting up at 4:30. Why?! I half sleep while he plays quietly in his room.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your day and those cute videos of the kids sledding. So much fun! It’s nice to see the dynamics, flow, and what other homeschooler’s do. I know this is not always a typical day, but it’s fun to see and perhaps even get a few idea’s or tips to try. 🙂
Not always! Today I slept until 6:50 – wahoo! 🙂
What a wonderful, productive day. Indoors, outdoors, hands-on, reading and playing. Perfect homeschool day! Thanks for sharing your day with us all!
Thank you, Celi! Hope you guys are all feeling better!!
I love the “day in the life” posts! Its always so interesting to see what someones day looks like. Yours was so full! Thanks for sharing 🙂
They are some of my favorites, too! I learn something new every time I read one 🙂
HI, Cait! We also survived homeschooling while having renovations in our condo and when we moved in to our new house after we rented out our condo to students. I can relate with your post so much! There’s also a lot of pretend play in our home as well as art projects and book reading. 🙂
Thanks for reading, Teresa! Yes, homeschooling with construction is quite the situation. Glad to hear you survived it, too! 🙂
Loved seeing your kids and your day. Looks so sweet!
Aw, thanks Paula!
I wish I could bring Jack over to spend a day with your family! One of the things I love about your site is how kid-friendly it is, as well as being a great place for parents. last week, I enjoyed showing my son Leo’s Lounge, and some of the videos you’ve shared with the book club. He’s dying to make a video, but he’s so shy. I think that it helped him consider going for it, though! We’ll see.
Guided meditation would be great for us, but I can’t get Jack to do it. And he needs to – it would help his anxiety and help slow down his thoughts. But I can’t get him to try it. It’s likely that I’m not saying the right thing. I’m probably making it sound boring…I’m looking forward to a post about it!
This is a fun blog hop theme. 🙂 Thanks!
Thanks so much for the feedback, Chris! Sorry for the delay- we’ve been less than healthy here lately 🙂 I am so glad that Leo’s Lounge has helped Jack a bit. I love hearing that!
I actually have a few worry-related posts on the docket. If everyone would start feeling better, I could finish ’em up 🙂 Stay tuned!
[…] Day in the Life, My Little Poppies Style ~ My Little Poppies (Caitlin Curley) https://my-little-poppies.com/a-day-in-the-life-my-little-poppies-style/ I’ll write a post about this at some point, but homeschooling during construction can be […]
We do Quiet Time here too. So refreshing for all of us. I don’t know how other folks function without one, and daily.
It’s a necessity here!
