Winter weather has finally descended upon New Hampshire! The kids have been anxiously awaiting New England’s first flakes. They spend hours outside together, building snow forts, creating snowmen, and making lightning-fast sledding tracks. My favorite part of their play is that moment when they come inside, all rosy-cheeked and smiley, and ask to read with me. Together, they shed their soggy winter layers. While I wait for the whistle, they gather blankets, pile them atop our couch, and climb underneath in search of warmth.
I treasure these moments with my children. Years from now, I’m certain that many of my favorite memories will be our lazy afternoons spent snuggled under blankets reading teetering piles of books. This is why I created the {Virtual} Family Book Club at My Little Poppies. I love to share good books so that families can enjoy them while growing readers. Winter is the perfect time to start a read aloud routine with your children. Today, I’m sharing five of our favorite cozy winter read alouds, and then I’d love to hear your favorites!
And now, without further ado, I present to you our favorite cozy winter read alouds!
